Bioplastics are often claimed as low performance polymers. While the use of bioplastics
is growing, increased performances are required.
Bioplastics formulation has a huge challenge ahead: increasing heat resistance of
bioplastics while using the highest level of biobased carbons, or showing good biodegradability
is just a small part of the iceberg. Adding bioplastics into traditional oil-based
polymers is another part.
Bioplastics portfolio is rather small at the key resin manufacturers, the field
is still very opened for compounders, leading to as many formulations and tailor-made
bioplastics.
