Statistical Process Control: Will Your Process Make Products Meeting Customer Specifications?

By correctly applying SPC, R&D people will better evaluate the technical feasibility of their project and prevent costly issues later, while on the production floor, less poor quality product will be made which will increase productivity and reduce cost. Product will better comply with customer requirements, reducing complaints and returns and creating better customer relations. .

5 reasons to attend this online course:
Reason 1 Basic understanding of the science of statistics

Reason 2 How to perform statistical calculations and know the pertinent terms, formulas and tables

Reason 3 Be able to apply statistics to determine product quality and process capability

Reason 4 Objectively determine if process revisions increase the process capability

Reason 5 Determine if product design and specifications are consistent with inherent capability of the process

The ultimate goal when developing a product is to achieve a part / formulation that can be produced at a larger scale where systematic controls for specification compliance are not feasible. At the same time, companies need to be able to ensure their customer that the product will meet their requirements.

At the development stage, Statistical Process Control provides the means, via analysis of samples, to assure that the industrial process will be capable and stable and later that the product coming out of production lines meets specification.

WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY FROM THIS COURSE:

  • Attendees will come away with basic skills in the science of statistics which will help them make proper decisions regarding the quality level of product and the capability of the process to meet requirements.
  • Participants will be able to use the knowledge gained to improve quality, increase process capability, improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Product development personnel will know if the design and/or specification window of products needs adjusting to fit the inherent capability of the process, thus relieving the burden on the production floor to meet requirements with a process not capable of doing so.
  • WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

    Those Invloved in :

  • Developing products
  • Establishing product specifications
  • Determining product quality
  • Manufacturing products
  • Process engineering
  • Customer relations

  • Pre-requisites to attend this course :
  • Experience in process scale-up and/or manufacturing environment
  • Involvement with product development and/or specifications
  • Knowledge of quality control
  • The following sections will be covered during the session:

    1. Actual example using statistics to analyze sample data to objectively judge acceptability of the lot, statistical defect level, and the capability of the process
    2. The Central Limit Theorem and its application in SPC
    3. Definitions of statistical terms, what they mean, how to calculate and use them – mean, variance, standard deviation, histograms, capability, Cpk and Ppk, normal distribution, Z values, Six Sigma introduction, etc.
    4. Control charts – what they are, what their purpose is, how to create and use them
