Palmer® is responsible for scale upand manufacturing of the new products.
  • Dow Signs License Agreement with ICL-IP's Bromine Compounds Ltd. for its Polymeric FR Technology (Feb 3, 2012)
    Dow Global Technologies LLC has signed a second license agreement for its Polymeric Flame Retardant technology with Bromine Compounds Ltd., a company within the ICL Industrial Products (ICL-IP) segment. A second licensee confirms global supply of the Polymeric FR, validating and supporting the technology's position as the new global industry standard flame retardant in the production of XPS and EPS foams.
  • Gevo Receives Landmark Patent from USPTO for its GIFT® Fermentation Technology to Produce Isobutanol (Feb 3, 2012)
    Gevo has received a landmark patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO") on its GIFT® separation unit, a central element in the Company's unique fermentation technology for the production of isobutanol. This patent addresses the separation technology used to produce propanols, butanols, pentanols, and hexanols. The claims also address how ethanol plants can be retrofitted to produce higher alcohols.
  • Rhodia & Avantium to Develop Renewable Polyamides Using Avantium’s YXY Technology (Feb 3, 2012)
    Rhodia and Avantium have entered into a partnership to develop a range of bio-based polyamides targeting a variety of applications. This partnership expands and completes the previously announced development agreement between Solvay and Avantium. Building on the newly combined forces of Rhodia and Solvay, the extended relationship offers a unique opportunity to explore a wide range of applications based on Avantium's YXY technology.

    Albemarle Corporation has successfully completed the latest expansion of its Process Development Center (PDC) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana by installing a new production train for finished polyolefin catalysts and a number of supporting auxiliaries. This expansion is the latest in a series of projects that Albemarle is undertaking to meet the growing demand for its metallocene/single site finished catalyst business.

  • University Researchers Develop Novel Method for Creating Elastic Conductors Made of Carbon Nanotubes (Feb 2, 2012)
    Researchers from North Carolina State University have developed a method for creating elastic conductors made of carbon nanotubes, which will contribute to large-scale production of the material for use in a new generation of elastic electronic devices. This new approach could lead to large-scale production of stretchable conductors, which would then expedite research and development of elastic electronic devices.
  • Alexium Launches Eco-friendly Flame Retardant, Oil & Water Repellant Durable Nylon (Feb 1, 2012)
    Alexium International Group Limited is entering the commercial roll-out phase of flame retardant, oil/water repellent nylon. The eco-friendly flame retardant treatment is based on a new flame retardant mechanism that Alexium has discovered and developed for nylon fabrics. The treatment has met key technical milestones for flame retardancy, water repellency, and durability.
  • Budenheim Enhances Production Capacity of Melamine Polyphosphate (Feb 1, 2012)
    In the first half of 2011, Budenheim has increased the annual production capacity of Melamine Polyphosphate (MPP) by 250 tons. This was achieved by an optimization of an existing plant at the Budenheim site in La Zaida (Spain). Budenheim now intends to build an additional new plant for the production of Melamine polyphosphate (MPP) with an annual capacity of 3,000 tons.
  • Chandra Asri Petrochemical Establishes its First Butadiene Production Plant in Indonesia (Feb 1, 2012)
    PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical recently launched the first butadiene plant in Indonesia. The plant is expected to have a capacity of 100,000 tons per year. The factory is equipped with butene-1 extraction which capacity of 40,000 tons per year with a total investment of US $ 145 million built on the land of 40,000 m2 located in CAP plant complex in Cilegon, Banten.

    Eastman Chemical Company and Solutia Inc. have entered into a definitive agreement, under which Eastman will acquire Solutia, a global leader in performance materials and specialty chemicals. Under the terms of the agreement, Solutia stockholders will receive $22.00 in cash and 0.12 shares of Eastman common stock for each share of Solutia common stock.

    VTT Technical Research Centre and Aalto University have recently developed a method which for the first time enables manufacturing of a wood-based and plastic-like material in large scale. The method enables industrial scale roll-to-roll production of nanofibrillated cellulose film, which is suitable for e.g. food packaging to protect products from spoilage.

    Dow Electrical & Telecommunications and Teknor Apex Company have announced a joint market development agreement for flexible vinyl in several application areas. Under a joint Collaboration Agreement, Teknor Apex was granted exclusive marketing rights in North America for flexible vinyl compounds containing DOW ECOLIBRIUM™ Bio-Based Plasticizers in certain applications.
  • Emerald Kalama Chemical to Begin Production of K-FLEX® Non-phthalate Plasticizers in Netherlands (Jan 30, 2012)
    Emerald Kalama Chemical has started the construction of a new operation to produce K-FLEX® non-phthalate plasticizers and coalescents at its facility in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The new operation is scheduled to be commissioned during the third quarter of 2012. The Rotterdam manufacturing operations are certified to a number of important quality standards, including ISO-9001, ISO-14001, HACCP, and FamiQS.
