Innovate with Isosorbide: A new generation monomer
exhibiting high performance & from renewable sources!
Figure 1: Isosorbide, a new generation of monomer
POLYSORB® P renewable monomer is a non aromatic cyclic structure which provides high tensile modulus and high glass transition temperature as illustrated on Figure 2 below for PEIT. It enables for example a considerable increase in the heat resistance of polymers such as PET and consequently a broadening of their range of applications (for hot-fill containers in particular).
Isosorbide can be used as a building block in order to create a new generation of polymers such as polyesters, polycarbonates and polyurethanes that are partially or even completely bio-based.
On top of that, POLYSORB® P is a 100% bio-based monomer which allows you to reduce carbon footprint of the final part.
